global reading: Florida, Wakulla, road memories

florida2005_2 this summer, i am reading short stories from different places – especially from places that are still a blank spot on my reading map, and places I’ve been to myself. so far, this turned to a surprise reading road trip. here’s a story from Florida, which also received a Nebula nomination: “Wakulla Springs” the photo.. is from my files, from a drive through the Everglades. i still remember how we stopped at that little parking spot that came with a small gallery – only that the gallery was closed that day. it took some moments more for us to realize that the areas next to the parking spot were home to … alligators. who probably had watched us all along, while sunbathing. more stories and links, here: reading the world, or a trip around the globe in short stories.
